3 Days from Marrakech to Desert

Day 1: Marrakesh – Ait Ben Hadou- Ouarzazate- Dades Valley.

The departure time is at 8 o’clock from Marrakesh when the driver meets you in the hotel where you are going to cross the High Atlas Mountains. Taking a minor road on the side after Tichka pass leaving the main road to the Telouet Kasbah.  This famous Kasbah belongs to the Glaoui family or as they are known “Lords of the Atlas”. However, the Kasbah had turned into ruins after the French departure especially when the last Pasha followed them fleeing his country. The main meal of lunch is served in Ait Ben Haddou, at the crucial road which connects several beautiful routes. The view there is pretty good, however. Time in the most famous Moroccan Kasbah is going to be enchanting; you feel enthusiastic to discover the UNESCO World Heritage site where many attractive landmarks are well preserved. After the fortified Ksar, driving the road to the Skoura Oasis is reached from Ouarzazate where the ancient Kasbahs are plenty with some of them had been ruined while other numerous ones stand still amongst the palm trees. You can see the locally- made cosmetic articles of the abundant roses. After that in the Dades gorges, we stop and rest in a guest house.

Day 2: Dades – Todgha Gorges – Risani – Merzouga.

Walking by the river after breakfast is such a lovely time to walk before we continue to the very different gorges of Toudgha. The choice is yours whether to have lunch in the gorges or at the Erg Chebbi dunes at the bivouac. While driving by the Ziz Valley, we will pass by the Erfoud and Rissani town were the king’s family originates. In the afternoon, we will have reached the vast Sahara. In the middle of the dunes, we have a glass of tea that is a joy especially before starting your camel riding tour. Enjoy it! you can take a two-hour camel ride in the Sahara. From the altitude of 250m, the sunset scenery from the top of the dunes is spectacularly uncommon. After enjoying the sunset view, we go back to the Nomad tent ” hiam” where dinner is ready.

Day 3: Merzouga – Tazarin – Agdz – Marrakesh.

The spectacular scene of the rising sun can be seen only if you wake up early in the morning. You will not bother anymore once you catch the first warm rising lights playing gently on the Saharan dunes. This is a real magical sight. Driving back to the East especially to Dra’a Valley where the driver takes us along the road through the villages where “Babel” is filmed to the Saghro mountains and N’Qob. There, we will enjoy our lunch where the giant mountains overlook. In the afternoon, we drive to Tanasikht where we arrive in the Dra’a valley. It is the richest area that is considered the habitat of the large palm trees where ancient kasbahs are numerously here and there. After that, we drive to Agdez along the track of the ancient caravan route where we meet ” Kasbah Tamnougalte”, the oldest kabsah in the valley.
