Imlil & Atlas Mountains day trip

Imlil Day Trip from Marrakech Overview

From Marrakesh to the Atlas Mountains, you will enjoy a splendid trip in the middle of the Moroccan countryside. Several Berber houses will pass you by throughout your walking. You can also ride the mules to feel the natural aspect of Atlas Mountains.

Atlas Mountains and Imlil day trip is going to be one of the most enjoyable day trips. The starting point is Marrakech. It is quite better to go ahead from early morning at 9:00 am in order to avoid Marrakesh before it gets hot. Much time later, we will be closely at the entrance of the countryside that is terrific. The rural atmosphere will definitely refresh yourself; that is very healthy. However, a 4×4 vehicle or even a mini-van would be perfect if you desire to get out of the city and emerge through the rural side of Morocco.

Imlil day trip will start from the Moulay Brahim Gorges where Berber villages are common and scattered in the countryside as Asni. From that point, we will visit the valley that is cool and fresh even at the hottest days of the year. This is because of Imlil’s location at the foothills of Mount Toubkal.

This central village is considered as the native habitat of mules and the place where mountain guides are hired. Trekkers used to choose Imlil as a starting point for climbing Mount Toubkal. After that, we shall as well visit Aroumd ( Aremd) , the Berber village in the south with an altitude of 1843m. You can take a lovely walk in Imlil before we go back to Marrakesh.

What’s special about Imlil Day trip

Why to choose Imlil over Ourika?

Imlil, the village is where you will ride mules all the way long to Around. The experience seems enjoyable. However, in Ourika valley, you will be attracted to its international high booking rates in most of the travel agencies. This makes Ourika valley quite special and here lies the major difference between Imlil and Ourika valley; the last is seen as an international location while Imlil is popular and local. Moreover, the hiking process in Ourika demands some effort if you do it on foot. Rather, you will do the hiking by riding the mules in Imlil. The process is more natural in Imlil, however.

After that, lunch is going to be prepared. The trip will be fascinating in the middle of the pure countryside where the sceneries become more blessing. Undoubtedly, it is a photo- taking demanding trip especially while hiking and trekking; you will take a numerous number of lovely photos. However, they remain as a good memory from Imlil. After all, you will enjoy trekking in Imlil doing your favorite activities freely since it has a few number of tourists. You better take the challenge to climb Mount Toubkal.

Saturday’s Local Market in Asni: Bio Shopping Moroccan Way

The weekly market of Asni that opens each Saturday would be such a good choice to visit during your trip. If you are in Asni on Saturday, you should have a walk between the lines of sellers who buy different products in a very friendly manner. Various animals, vegetables, fresh meat and fruit are all sold in the shopping market of Asni. Enjoy a different kind of markets where people belong to Berber backgrounds so that be attentive not to picture them while taking photos in your journey. They are very sensitive, however.

Lunch in a Berber House? This makes a different!

In the open nature of Ourika, you’ll have lunch ordered by a friendly family from the natives. This is quite a lovely and welcoming gesture to the visitors from Ourika’s people. The lunch will include dishes from the Moroccan cuisine that are delicious and tasty flavored. However, the group will absolutely enjoy eating their meal with the valley on their left. Sipping warm mint tea after the lunch with a group of friendly Moroccan people would be really interesting especially when folk songs are sung.  I guess such a trip will be hard to forget so that I advise you to enjoy each detail during Asni’s trip.
